Minister of Sports Development, Sen. John Owan Enoh, assures that President Tinubu will visit the team during the tournament

Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has invited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging him to witness and support the team’s quest for victory in Ivory Coast. Musa conveyed this message during a Zoom meeting with the Minister of Sports Development, Sen. John Owan Enoh, as the team gears up to face Cameroon in the AFCON Round of 16.
Expressing the players’ desire to have President Tinubu physically present, Musa stated, “We don’t want him to watch the game on TV anymore; we want him over here [Ivory Coast] to come and cheer us together. So this is our message to the President.”
Minister Enoh assured the team that the President would visit them at a specific point in the tournament. He conveyed, “The president will come. I can assure you the president will come. He has told me when he wants to come, and my prayer is that gradually we are going to get to the point where the President can come. He will come. I will bring the president; he will come.”
In related news, Cameroon’s captain, Vincent Aboubakar, has reportedly recovered from injury, making him available for selection ahead of Saturday’s clash with the Super Eagles in the AFCON Round of 16. Aboubakar, a key figure for Cameroon, missed the group games due to an injury sustained in training just before the tournament.
If selected, this encounter will mark Aboubakar’s third appearance against the Eagles, having faced them in 2015 and 2017. His first encounter was in a friendly game in 2015, resulting in a 3-0 victory for Nigeria. Notably, Aboubakar emerged as the top scorer at AFCON 2021 held in Cameroon, showcasing his goal-scoring prowess with eight goals.
