2027: Kwara North stakeholders rally for governorship ticket

Political stakeholders and people from the Kwara North senatorial district, under the aegis of the Kwara North Youth Consultative Forum (KNYCF), called on Kwara state citizens on Saturday to ensure they work in unison to realise governorship tickets come 2027.

The political gathering held in Bode Saadu, Moro local government area, and convened by the KNYCF saw traditional rulers and politicians from the five local government councils, among others, in attendance.

Speaking with journalists, the senator representing the district at the National Assembly, Sadiq Umar, noted that the project for the Kwara North governorship is a collective pursuit irrespective of political affiliations, saying that “the party for us this time around is Kwara North.”.

Also speaking, the Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Yakubu Danladi Salihu, described the initiative by the youths as a step in the right direction to achieving their ambition.

Former Head of Service, Alhaji Dabarako Mohammed, said that one of the best ways to get it right this time around is to support the issue of zoning and rotation as propounded by the National Assembly, while he called on the youth to support the move.

Also, the 2023 PDP candidate for the House of Representatives, Hon. Musa Bako, emphasised the importance of “unity and the need to “navigate the turbulent political journey to get power and achieve the common goal, because power is not given a la carte.”.

The Commissioner for Youths, Hon. Nafisat Buge, said the gathering is a signal for every Kwaran, adding that as youth, “We would do our work because in a battle of common interests, the best instrument of war is unity.”.

One of the organisers of the programme and the publicity secretary of KNYCF, Nura Muhammed, said that the region lost the battle in 2023 but not the war.

“We are still going back to the war with the support of every Kwaran. That is why we want to ensure that we work on our houses to remain stronger than ever before. And what happened today has never happened before. And by the grace of God, we will ensure that we get the ticket this time around,” he said.
