A Season of Restoration

THE recent economic situation has been really tough for most Nigerians. Sharp rises in food prices, which followed a sharp rise in fuel prices, aggravated by chronic and widespread insecurity and other socio-economic challenges have thrown many into severe pain and frustration. Yet, we must not surrender to hopelessness. We are united with all of humanity in hope for a better tomorrow. Without hope, there is no basis for life.

Fortunately, God has good promises for us in His Word, which we may hold on to as we hope for better times. For example, at a time of great distress and adversity, the word of God came to Israel through Prophet Joel. God said:

Joel 2:25-26  And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you. And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed.

This word of comfort and hope applies to us even today. It is for all who cry to God at times of distress like we do currently. God promised that in place of loss, there shall be profit. In place of destruction, there shall be restoration and building up. God said He would do these just to prove that He was present amidst the nation. May God’s presence become truly manifest in our nation Nigeria, in Jesus’ name.

The child of God should look forward to heavenly blessings. His wellbeing or success on this earthly journey shall not be by power or might; it shall be by the Spirit of the Lord (Zechariah 4: 6). Isaiah also prophesied to Israel, saying:

Isaiah 41:10  Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

That same promise is for all children of God. Fear not. Don’t let what is happening around cause you to be dismayed. God will strengthen you. God will help you. He will teach you what you need to do.

Prophetically, God has shown us one thing that we need to do:

Proverbs 3:5-6  Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Trust in the Lord, hundred percent. Ask Him questions before you take any step. Follow His instructions with confidence, knowing that the laws of God are not grievous. If we ask Him, and ask Him always, He will keep showing us the way. And as long as we listen to Him, we can never get lost;and it shall be well with us. It shall be well with our communities. It shall be well with our nation, in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
