Abbott replaces Green, Southee in for Ferguson as New Zealand bowl first

TossNew Zealand chose to bowl vs Australia

New Zealand will have a chase under the lights to try and keep the Chappell-Hadlee series alive after Kane Williamson opted to bowl in Cairns following Australia’s come-from-behind victory two days ago.

Both teams have made one change each. Cameron Green has not recovered from the cramps he suffered at the end of the chase where he finished unbeaten on 89 and is replaced by Sean Abbott who gets his first outing of the season.

New Zealand have brought in Tim Southee’s swing for Lockie Ferguson’s pace meaning they retain the same balance of the side with the twin spin of Mitchell Santner and Michael Bracewell.

Aaron Finch will be in the spotlight straightaway as he continues his search for form. He was pinned lbw by Trent Boult for 5 in the opening match of the series, leaving him with 26 runs in four innings since the start of the Zimbabwe series.
