Alleged 19.4bn fraud: Court admits Sirika, brother N100m bail each

A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, sitting in Garki has granted bail to former Aviation Minister, Hadi Sirika and his brother, Ahmad Sirika at N100 million each with two sureties in like sum.
Justice Suleiman Belgore granted bail to both defendants while ruling on their bail applications.
The two were arraigned before on a 10-count charge bordering on contract fraud brought against them and two companies – Enginos Nigeria Ltd and Samahah Integrated Investments Ltd.
The ex-Aviation Minister was alleged to have conferred an unfair advantage on the companies owned by his brother.
About N19.4b are said to have been involved in the alleged contract fraud.
Further conditions attached to the bail granted to both defendants are that one of the sureties must own a property within the FCT.

They are not to travel outside the country without first obtaining the permission of the court upon filing a formal application.
