APC members in Jigawa defect to NNPP

A thousand members of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) have decamped to the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Jigawa State, expressing disapproval of the allegations of bad policies and programmes that increase suffering for the common man.

Receiving the decampees, the New Nigerian People Party (NNPP) gubernatorial candidate of the state, Malam Aminu Ibrahim Ringim, in Dutse, the state capital accused the ruling APC governments in the centre and the state of lacking any policy or programme for positive direction despite one year in office.

Malam Aminu Ibrahim described the administration system of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as unprepared and incapacitated to handle the current economic and security challenges.

According to him, “the present economic and security hardship is devastating to a level where all categories of human beings are confused to the point that no one is looking for what to eat.”.

He said, “Despite these, the federal government is still coming up with more policies to add more suffering to the citizens, and the common man in particular, that voted them into power.”.

“Some of the policies include the recent hicks of the electricity tariff, the introduction of the Sabre security levey, in addition to the removal of fuel subsidies, which is the foundation of the economic crises and an increase in security challenges.”.

The gubernatorial candidate also faulted the Jigawa state governor, Mal. Umar Namadi, for allegedly neglecting his responsibilities and misplanning priorities for his first year in office.

He accused Governor Umar Namadi of abandoning the agricultural sector, which over 90 per cent of people engage in.

“The governor failed to fulfil his promises on agriculture, youth employment, and education. The governor promised to pay the registration fee for the state indigenous in some universities, scholarships, and no support in irrigation farming such as rice and maize dry season farming, etc.”

“As an opposition party, we have kept silent and watched for almost one year now, but there is still nothing to show in terms of human or infrastructure development by either President Bola Tinubu or Governor Umar Namadi. We concluded all arrangements to challenge the ruling party both at the national and state level on why this unnecessary hardship should be addressed,” he said.

Malam Aminu explained that the purpose of the gathering is to meet with the leadership of the NNPP in 27 local governments in Jigawa State to discuss and design how to save Nigerians from hardship.

“Our party, the NNPP, as an opposition party, wouldn’t allow this to continue like that; we must challenge and call the ruling party, the APC, to do the right thing, as Nigerians are entitled to survive without this untold hardship,” Malam Aminu stated.

He then called on Nigerians to avoid repeating the mistake of ‘collect and vote’ in the next general elections to save the future of the country.

He welcomed the new party members to the New Nigerian People Party (NNPP) and commended their courage, national patriotism, and commitment to bring positive changes under the NNPP.

Speaking on behalf of the decampees, one Malam Abubakar Lawan Kafi said, “We took this decision in order to express our concerns with the present hardship and the APC-led administration’s deceiving of palliative distributions to people and the number of bad policies and programmes putting on top of the people of the country.”.

Malam Abubakar Lawan Kafi added, “We are optimistic and confident that the ANPP will lead to positive changes if given the opportunity. We are all leaving witnesses to the good governance and quality leadership in Kano State under the NNPP. We believe that is going to happen in the country if Engineer Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso becomes president of Nigeria and Malam Aminu Ibrahim Ringim becomes governor of Jigawa State.”
