APC ward campaign coordinator shot dead in Ondo

A ward coordinator of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akoko Southwest Local Government area of Ondo State, Alaba Abe Excel has been reportedly shot dead by unknown gunmen who invaded his Supare Akoko home.

Excel was said to be at home with his family when the assassins invaded his home and killed him in the presence of his wife and children.

The State Information Director of the Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation Foot Soldiers Independent Council (LACO-FSIC) Kayode Fasua, who confirmed the killing of Excel, said the details of his killing are still sketchy.

Fasua said the group will visit the home of the late Returning Officer for the party in the just concluded primary election of the party in the local government area.

The Aiyedatiwa Campaign Group in a statement signed by Fasua, however, lamented the murder of its key member, and decried the gruesome murder of Excel, with an appeal to the police authorities to protect its members against implacable opponents.

Fasua stated that “the late Excel was a resourceful coordinator, campaigning for the election of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa until he was gruesomely murdered, as he was shot in his Supare home on April 27.”

Fasua stated that the incident came as a rude shock to members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the local council, working for the election of the governor, come November, this year.

Reacting, the Akoko Southwest Local Government Director-General for the LACO-FSIC, David Ajobiewe, also described the incident as a rude shock.

“Excel had been a resourceful coordinator for the Aiyedatiwa campaign organisation in Ward 10 of Supare and was never known to be violent and never had any history of local or domestic dispute.

“We urge the police authorities to step up investigations into his gruesome murder and bring the perpetrators of the dastardly act to book,” Ajobiewe pleaded.

Meanwhile, the State Director-General of the LACO-FSIC, who is also the state Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Mr Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye, described the incident as terrible and uncalled for, expressing his sympathy with the family members, friends, and associates of the late Excel.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Funmi Odunlami, who confirmed the incident said “the command is aware of the incident at Supare Akoko, investigation is ongoing to unravel all that happened.”
