Bandits attack Katsina community, kill university lecturer, abduct children

Bandits terrorising Nigeria’s north west region have struck again in Katsina State killing one Tiri Gyan David.
David, prior to his death, was a lecturer with the Federal University Dutsinma (FUDMA) in Katsina State.
His children were also reportedly abducted after he was killed by bandits who stormed his residence in the early hours of Tuesday.
Tiri was said to be the Head of the Department of Agricultural Economics, Extension, and Rural Development at the university.
According to Channels TV, the incident happened at about 1:30 am at the lecturer’s residence in the Yarima Quarters, Low-Cost Estate, Dutsinma Local Government Area of the beleaguered State.
A local, who was privy to the incident, told the media outlet that the bandits invaded the community with sophisticated weapons, shooting sporadically to scare the residents.
According to the eyewitness, the bandits also abducted two of the lecturer’s children.
The Katsina Police Command spokesman, Abubakar Sadiq, confirmed the incident.

He said the command will soon release a detailed statement about the attack.
Dutsinma is among the ten local government areas facing perennial security crisis with incessant from bandit attacks almost daily despite efforts by both the state government and security agencies to restore peace in the state.
