Bauchi govt approves procurement of renal machines for specialists hospital

Bauchi State Executive Council (SEC) has approved the procurement of four renal machines to be installed at the Renal Centre of the Specialists Hospital, Bauchi.

The disclosure was made by the Commissioner of Health, Dr Adamu Sambo while briefing Journalists shortly after the SEC meeting at the Government House, Bauchi.

According to him, the move was necessitated by the move to ensure that renal services are readily available for the patients as well as affordable considering the present cost of a visit at the ATBUTH.

He lamented that as it is now, dialysis patients are finding it difficult to maintain themselves as each visit is becoming so much for them to afford.

The Commissioner added that government also saw the need to seperate the categories of the patients in order to have an effective and efficient service at the centre.

Adamu Sambo explained that, “Each of the machines is to be assigned to specific section of patients. We will have one for HIV/AIDS patients, Hapatitis, the aged and children. All these categories require specified attentions and treatment.”

The Commissioner also said, Council approved the formal take off of the Health contributory Scheme where 2 percent will be deducted monthly from the salaries of all Civil Servants and Political appointees to enable them and their families benefit from the health Insurance Scheme.

Adamu Sambo assured that government will continue to be pay premium attention on effective and efficient healthcare service delivery across the state stressing that health is wealth.

Also, the Commissioner of Higher Education and Regional Cooperation, Dr Haruna Tsanmani said that the Council has approved the takeover of the Bilyaminu Othman College of Education in Dass henceforth.

According to her, the College has now been merged with the College of Education (Technical) recently established by the State Government explaining that development followed a request by the owners of the College as well as other relevant stakeholders in Dass Emirate.

She assured that every due process was followed before the final ratification by Council to avoid future problems over the takeover just as she said that the Ministry of Lands and Survey has assessed the entire area and suggested the amount of compensation to paid to the owners.

The Commissioner assured that as soon as the paper work by the Ministry of Justice was completed, the compensation will be paid to all identified owners of the land.
