Borno Bombing : Northern senators promise to seek justice for victims

Senators from the 19 Northern States under the platform of the Northern Senators Forum have condemned the recent killings in Borno State, caused by attacks carried out by the terror group Boko Haram.

The suicide bombings in Gwoza resulted in the deaths of 18 children, pregnant women, men, and others on Saturday.

In a statement signed by the Chairman of the Forum, who incidentally also chairs the Senate Committee on Army, Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua, the Northern Senators condemned the attack as “cowardly deeds by those who seek to spread fear and chaos among our peaceful communities.”

The lawmakers assured the bereaved victims of justice and pledged to hold accountable those responsible for these vile acts. The statement reads in part:

“The Northern Senators Forum shares the profound sorrow and anguish that has befallen the community of Gwoza following the devastating events of June 29, 2024.

The horrific acts of violence, as relayed by Dr. Barkindo M. Saidu, DG Borno SEMA, have shattered our hearts and tested our resilience.

“We stand united in condemning the cowardly deeds of those who seek to spread fear and chaos among our peaceful communities.

The loss of innocent lives and the suffering inflicted upon families in Gwoza have deeply wounded us all. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families who have been bereaved and the individuals fighting for their lives in the aftermath of this senseless tragedy.
