Ondo Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa has called on Corps members posted to the State not to let the nation down in the course of their one-year mandatory service.
He asserted the priority of his administration is to ensure adequate security of all the citizens and residents living in the State.
The Executive Governor stated this in his remarks at the closing ceremony for 2024 Batch ‘A’ (Stream II) corps members deployed to the Sunshine State.
Aiyedatiwa, who was represented at the low key ceremony by the NYSC Ondo State Coordinator, Mr. Samuel Amaramiro Pepple said that the State will continue to strive, more than ever before, to ensure that corps members in all the nooks and crannies of the state receive special security attention.
He said that while the State will make their stay comfortable and enjoyable, they have a role to play making sure they are identified as corps members all the time and avoiding mixing with miscreants and hoodlums.
The Governor enjoined them to accept their postings in good faith and at the same time craft their names on stones in the development and transformation of the rural communities by embarking on projects that meet their immediate needs.
“Most of your predecessors have set an enviable record in this regard and you cannot afford to let them and the nation down. I urge you, therefore, to rededicate yourselves by making the best use of this once in a life time opportunity in the service of our people”.
The number one citizen of the Sunshine State assured members of the service corps that the state is very hospitable, advising them to aclamatise and integrate with the people of their communities and at the same time urging them to respect their world view, culture, values, beliefs and aspirations.
The Chief Host and father to all corps members serving in the state commended them for their good behaviour while on camp, and admonished them to continue in that stead as good ambassadors of their families and the country.
Conclusively, the Governor enjoined them to acquire at least one life skill before the end of the service year so that they will be contributing to the socio-economic development of Ondo State and Nigeria in general
The three weeks orientation course commenced three weeks ago and 1773 registered for the service in Ondo State.
Two camp officials, who distinguished themselves selflessly during the orientation course were honoured and presented Letter of Commendation. They were Corporal Oluwole Emmanuel from Nigeria Police and Comrade Babatunde Oyelami from the NYSC.
