DSS rescues seven kidnapped victims in Sokoto

The Sokoto State Command of the Department of State Services (DSS) swiftly responded to a distress call regarding bandit activites in Gundungul Village, rescuing seven kidnapped victims within 24 hours of their abduction.

Abdulfatah Olawuno, the Director of the DSS Sokoto Command, disclosed that his personnel engaged the bandits upon receiving the distress call and secured the village.

The bandits, however, fled into the bush with the abducted villagers.

The DSS pursued them and successfully rescued the kidnapped victims.

Tragically, the bandits had already killed two villagers in Gundungul Village before abducting the others.

The seven rescued victims underwent medical examinations by the DSS before being handed over to the state government, DSS stated.

Receiving the kidnapped victims on behalf of the state government, Secretary to the State Government, Muhammad Bello Sifawa, commended the DSS for the feat which he described as a welcome development.

He reassured the security agencies in the state of the administration’s continued support to fully secure the state.
