Ebonyi Gov’s wife pledges to pay medical bills for 130 scrotal hernia patients

Wife of the Ebonyi state Governor, Mrs Mary-Maudlune Nwifuru has promised to send 130 scrotal hernia patients in the State to undergo medical surgery this week.

Nwifuru disclosed this at Onueke, Ezza South Local Government Area in the state during the flag-off of her pet project, Better Health for Rural Women and Internally Displaced Persons Foundation (BERWO) in the local government.

According to her, the surgery would be free and would be sponsored by the pet project in collaboration with a non-governmental organization, adding that profiling of the scrotal hernia patients was still ongoing in the state.

She added that the pet project in conjunction with the state Primary Health Development Agency would also provide free camping and vaccination for Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) sufferers.

“BERWO Foundation in conjunction with Ebonyi State Primary Health Development Agency is about to flag off important campaign against Human Papilloma Virus infection (HPV).

“This virus is the main cause of cervical cancer in females. The Virus also causes cancer in males. The HPV vaccine is targeted to be given to young girls between the ages of 9-15 years.

“It is a deadly disease that affect the neck or the womb of the female but it is highly preventable through vaccination.

“This campaign will be flagged off in the state on the 27th May, 2024 and it will last for 5-days after which, the vaccine will be incorporated into the routine immunization and this vacation is free of charge for all eligible children

“Also, BERWO foundation in conjunction with notable health partners in the state will soon commence screening and treatment of early-stage cervical cancer in the state.

“The foundation has commenced the enrollment of people living with scrotal hernia for immediate and urgent surgery across the 13 local government areas of the state.

“As it stands, we have already recorded 130 patients waiting for the surgery which will commence next week”, she stated.

The governor’s wife also promised to build house for the family of six which five among them are blind.

In her address, Chairman of the local government, Mrs. Euphemia Nwali commended Mrs. Nwifuru for her pet project which she said has touched many lives and saved many souls.

She assured that the local government would support the project to continue to save humanity in society.
