Edema vows to unseat Aiyedatiwa, appoints Alaba as campaign DG

• Council ex-boss tackles Aiyedatiwa over nullification of LCDAs
• Urges gov to appeal judgment for Akeredolu’s, posterity sake

The gubernatorial candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in the forthcoming election in Ondo State, Olugbenga Edema, at the weekend, said that he would defeat the incumbent governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, during the November 16, 2024 poll.

Edema, who disclosed this during the unveiling of Adeyemi Alaba as the Director-General of the NNPP Campaign Organisation in the state, promised to bring about positive change and progress in the state.

According to him, the appointment of the retired permanent secretary as head of his campaign organisation was a strategic move ahead of the election.

Edema said that Alaba’s extensive experience and affiliations would be instrumental in bringing a fresh perspective and creativity to the campaign of the NNPP in the state.

In another development, a former Chairman of Okitipupa Local Council of Ondo State, Abayomi Adesanya, at the weekend, berated Aiyedatiwa for allegedly not taking action over the scrapping of the 33 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).

Adesanya, a Senior Special Assistant to the Deputy Senate President, while accusing Aiyedatiwa of tactically not supporting the LCDAs, urged the governor to appeal the judgment for the sake of posterity and in honour of his late boss, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, who he said, strived to ensure the establishment of the LCDAs for the benefit of the people at the grassroots.

In a statement, Adesanya, who stressed that Aiyedatiwa should take the blame over the development, said that the nullification of the LCDAs would pose a threat to the victory of the party in future elections in the state.
