Edo 2024: Female driver gives free ride to support Ighodalo’s ambition

The campaign for the candidacy of Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), governorship candidate for the September 21, 2024 election in Edo, was taken to a dramatic level on Sunday as a female commercial bus driver gave free ride to commuters in Benin City, the state capital.

The lady driver, Mrs. Terada Itohan Uwadiae, a volunteer in the Sues/Ogie Camping Support Group, gave the free ride as part of her support for the PDP governorship candidate, Ighodalo, and his running mate, Osarodion Ogies.

Uwadiae said that the gesture was towards alleviating the hardship faced by commuters in Benin City and its environs, occasioned by the hike in fuel prices, and a demonstration of her support for the Ighodalo gubernatorial ambition.

The lady commercial driver, who conveyed passengers free of charge along major routes in the Benin metropolis, said that the duo of Asue Ighodalo and Osarodion Ogie had the capacity,  ability, and competence to lead the good people of Edo state.

The lady who drove passengers from Ring Road to Upper Sokponba, Three  House, Sapele Road, and Airport Road added that she would continue to use her time, energy, and resources to galvanise and mobilise support for the PDP flagbearer.

Uwadiae, who is also a member of  Asue/Ogie Youth Vanguard, said the PDP deputy governorship candidate, Ogie had over the years used his personal resources to help and ameliorate the hardship in many families, especially during the festive season.

“Ogie does not need to know you before he attends to you; you don’t need to be recommended by any political leader before he identifies your potential.

“He is a man whose political history is worthy of emulation. I want to appeal to all of you to tell others that these men, Asue Ighodalo and Ogie are the men that can move Edo state forward,” she declared.

“I decide to provide free bus ride to our Edo brothers and sisters to demonstrate that better days are ahead under the Asue /Ogie governorship ticket. The APC as we all know has renewed poverty in the land. Even their supporters are gnashing teeth and crying in silence pretending all is well.

One of the beneficiaries of the free ride, Mrs. Sandra Obanor, prayed for the PDD candidate and his running while calling on Edo voters to support their aspiration to develop the achievements of Godwin Obaseki.

Also, another commuter, Odion Samuel, who enjoyed the free to Upper Sakponba, a densely populated suburb, commended the initiative of the lady driver for the show of love and empathy, just as she promised to vote for the PDP candidate in the forthcoming September governorship election.

Odion said, “Ogie is our own, we are all going to do our best to tell him thank you with our PVC. The PDP has performed and deserves to continue to provide the dividends of democracy. Edo cannot afford to entrust the state incompetent person.

Meanwhile,  the Coordinator-General of Asue Ogie Youth Vanguard,  Mr Solomon Okoduwa, and deputy coordinator, Mr. Tony Jimon, thanked the lady driver for coming out to support this movement.

They said this is the time for Edo to experience good governance with Ogie and Asue noting that plans is ongoing to duplicate this type of gesture in other routes with the metropolis and other senatorial districts.

“The free ride will be going to some village markets to help convey goods and services of our market women free of charge so that the market women will in turn reduce the cost that would have been added to the buyers. This is what Ogie and Asue stand for.”
