BENIN CITY – The Edo State Coordinator, Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP), Dr. Tom Obaseki, has received the Federal Project Management Unit (FPMU) data validation team in Benin City, with an assurance that government and management staff of the project would provide the team the needed support.
According to him, the mission of the NEWMAP data validation team was clear and the State Project Monitoring Unit (SPMU) was fully ready to assist by providing the necessary documentation that has taken place in the last nine years of the project and as well, take the team on the required field visits for an on-the-spot project inspection.
Explaining the team’s work scope, leader of the FPMU data validation team, Mr. Mukhtar Tanko explained that they were in the secretariat to validate various NEWMAP project sites in the state and their Rsettlement Action Plan (RAP) related and other information.
Mr. Tanko, who is the project Federal Monitoring and Evaluation officer said that his team would also be conducting a 360-degree camera shoot to capture and document completed and ongoing work sites.
The data validation work which began on February 18, 2021, with a meeting with the management of Edo SPMU, concluded with a wrap up meeting yesterday.
The validation team will visit a total of 14 NEWMAP project sites, including completed and ongoing.
