Eid-El-Kabir: PDP Laments Hardship, Urges Unity

The PDP urged Nigerians to strengthen faith in God and unity amidst hardships, criticizing APC’s policies during Eid-el-Kabir
The PDP called on President Tinubu to re-evaluate policies, end corruption, and restore hope by addressing citizens’ needs

The main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has expressed concern over the prevailing hardship in Nigeria, calling for unity and faith in God in the spirit of Eid-el-Kabir. Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, congratulated the Muslim faithful on the occasion and urged Nigerians to strengthen their reliance on God’s mercies and reinforce national unity.
The PDP highlighted that unity and faith are crucial for the nation and its citizens to endure the economic challenges and harsh realities that have worsened over the last nine years under the All Progressives Congress (APC) administrations. The party criticized the APC for its ill-conceived and poorly implemented policies, which have led to widespread despair and uncertainty among Nigerians.
“It is apparent that most Nigerians have completely lost confidence in the rudderless and insensitive APC government,” the PDP stated. “The APC has failed to articulate any clear-cut, development-oriented policy direction geared towards guaranteeing the security and economic well-being of the people.”
The PDP also noted that the public’s sense of a governance vacuum is evident, as Nigerians have taken over the primary duties of government by funding their security, electricity, education, healthcare, roads, and food production. The party argued this is due to the reckless looting and squandering of resources by corrupt APC leaders.
“The ill-implemented and abrupt removal of fuel subsidy, floating of the Naira, hike in electricity tariff, and imposition of multiple taxes without corresponding tangible policies to cushion the high costs further confirm that the APC administration is disconnected from the realities of life in Nigeria,” the statement continued.
The PDP lamented that millions of Nigerians are observing Eid-el-Kabir in frustration and cannot celebrate with loved ones due to extreme hardship caused by the APC government’s policies. The party expressed concern over the growing public agitation over hunger and the high cost of living in the country.

The PDP called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to urgently restore hope by listening to Nigerians and re-evaluating the policies that are suffocating life in Nigeria. The party urged the President to end depravity and corruption, recover stolen funds, and direct them towards projects benefiting the citizens’ well-being.
Despite the APC’s failures, the PDP encouraged Nigerians not to despair but to continue being their brother’s keeper, using the Eid-el-Kabir celebration as an opportunity to reach out, share, and care for one another in love and hope.
