EKOEXCEL: LASUBEB Completes Training for Fresh 2,000 Primary School Teachers

The investigative panel on the financial appropriation in Federal Government owned tertiary institutions had arrived Ukana Federal polytechnic, Akwa Ibom State.

The chairman visitation Panel to the Polytechnic, Prof. A.T Abdullahi in a parley with management of the institution on Wednesday at the Annex campus of the institution said the investigation was not meant to witch hunt anyone, but to have objective examination of the Polytechnic with a view to making recommendations to the Federal government.

He, however, called for cooperation between the Management of the Polytechnic, host community and stakeholders to enable the panel to complete its job successfully and on record time.

The Chairman explained that the panel was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari to review the activities of the polytechnic between 2014 to 2020 and examine the relationship between the institution and the various statutory bodies it interacts with among other things.

Prof. Abdullahi said, “the panel shall interact with various stakeholders of the Federal Polytechnic, Ukana with a view to getting first-hand information and inputs.

“Part of our assignment is to investigate the application of funds, particularly the special grants and loans meant for particular projects in order to determine the status of such projects and their relevance for further funding.”

Responding, the Rector of the institution, Dr. Uduak S. Ukekpe, stated that the Polytechnic had since its inception enjoyed a good relationship with the host community and that the relationship between the management, staff and students has been exceptionally cordial and peaceful which is evident by the level of success achieved in a short space of time.

He assured the Panel of maximum cooperation and support in actualization of its assigned task and expressed optimism that the recommendations by the panel would enhance academic productivity and excellence at the institution.

”We are willing to give the needed cooperation and support to this honourable panel in actualization of its assigned task, hoping that, the polytechnic shall achieve its dream of ensuring that modifications are made in all academic programmes and policies in order to achieve maximum academic productivity and excellence,” The Rector said.
