EYN Urges Tinubu to Address Nigeria’s Turbulent Times

Rev. Joel S. Billi urges President Bola Tinubu to address Nigeria’s turbulent state and restore stability through decisive action
Concerned about the economic crisis, Rev. Joel attributes it to poor decisions, especially the abrupt removal of petroleum subsidy

Rev. Joel S. Billi, President of the Ekklesiyar ‘Yan’Uwa A Nigeria (EYN), also known as the Brethren Church, has highlighted Nigeria’s current turbulent state, urging President Bola Tinubu to take decisive action to restore stability in the nation.
Speaking during the 77th General Church Council (GCC) Majalisa in 2024, held in Kwarhi, Hong local government area of Adamawa State, Rev. Joel expressed concern over the country’s unprecedented economic crisis. He attributed this crisis to poor economic decisions and government programs, particularly the abrupt removal of petroleum subsidies.
Rev. Joel emphasized the exorbitant cost of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), which now fluctuates between N695 and N750 per litre. He lamented the irony of Nigeria, an oil-producing nation for over six decades, relying on imported refined petroleum products due to the non-functionality of local refineries.
Despite the challenges, Rev. Joel affirmed the Church’s commitment to praying for the government’s success. He called on pastors and delegates to continue seeking divine guidance for worthy successors, recognizing that God ordains leadership and requires spiritual guidance.
As his tenure draws to a close, Rev. Joel urged the congregation to remain steadfast in prayer and uphold spiritual principles in leadership transitions.
