Fake police inspector arrested for leading armed robbery operations in Rivers state

He was found dressed in police camouflage, armed with an AK-47 rifle, 10 magazines, and 29 rounds of live ammunition

Rivers State Police have arrested a 31-year-old man, Fred Monday, who posed as a Police Inspector to lead armed robbery operations.
Monday was apprehended during a raid on a cult initiation ceremony in Luegbo Community, Khana Local Government Area. He was found dressed in police camouflage, armed with an AK-47 rifle, 10 magazines, and 29 rounds of live ammunition.
Police Commissioner Olatunji Disu revealed Monday’s true identity after interrogation, exposing his involvement in criminal activities since purchasing the rifle and ammunition from an accomplice, Goodluck (aka Boy-J), in 2021. The impostor had allegedly been using his disguise to escort criminals across several states, including Akwa Ibom, Edo, Delta, and Rivers.
Five suspected cultists, students from Ken Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic, were also arrested during the operation and charged in court. Police are continuing their investigations to apprehend other members of Monday’s gang.
