Fuel Scarcity Killing: Culprit identified as Police officer — Ben Hundeyin

The Public Relations Officer of Lagos State Command, Ben Hundeyin, has disclosed that the individual responsible for shooting Toyin Eniafe during a filling station queue altercation has been identified as a police officer.

In an announcement shared on the Ben Hundeyin X’s platform on Thursday, May 2nd, 2024,

Hundeyin stated that the perpetrator behind the shooting has been identified as a police officer serving at Special Protection Unit (SPU) Base 17, Lion Building, Lagos.

Investigations are still underway, and additional details will be provided as they emerge. Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Command is collaborating with the deceased’s family to ensure that justice prevails.

He wrote, ”The person behind the shooting has been identified as a police officer serving at Special Protection Unit (SPU) Base 17, Lion Building, Lagos. Investigation is still ongoing and further findings will be made available. Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Command is working with the family of the deceased to ensure that there is no miscarriage of justice.”

Earlier reports from Tribune Online had indicated that Toyin Eniafe was fatally shot by a security operative during a dispute at a filling station in Lagos State.

According to witnesses, Eniafe had visited a filling station in the Obalende area on Wednesday evening when the tragic incident occurred.

Following the shooting, enraged youths in the vicinity took to the streets, venting their anger by setting ablaze two patrol vans belonging to security operatives.

These vehicles were reported to be the property of the Department of State Security Service.
