Ganduje’s probe: Commission of inquiry’s inaugural session to hold Monday

The Kano Commission of Inquiry on the Recovery of Public Assets, tasked with probing the previous administration led by former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, is set to commence its inaugural session on Monday, April 29, 2024.

Salisu Mustapha, the commission’s secretary, conveyed this information in a letter addressed to the Director General of Media and Publicity on Saturday. The session will be held at High Court No. 3 within the Audu Bako Secretariat.

Earlier this month, Governor Yusuf inaugurated two judicial commissions of inquiry (JCI) to investigate instances of misappropriation of public properties and assets, political violence, and missing persons between 2015 and 2023.

During the inauguration, Governor Yusuf reiterated his commitment to hold accountable anyone found culpable, particularly emphasising the investigation into political violence preceding and during previous elections.

The governor urged the Commission to conduct thorough investigations into cases of misappropriated public properties and assets during the previous administration’s tenure. He emphasised the importance of integrity and upholding their oath among the commission members, ensuring justice is served to the people of Kano State.

Governor Yusuf clarified that the initiative was not politically motivated but rather a response to the mandate of the people of Kano State for accountability and transparency.

Prominent justices of the State High Courts, including Farouq Lawan Adamu and Zuwaira Yusuf, along with other eminent personalities, have been appointed as chairmen and members of the two commissions of inquiry.
