Gov Aliyu bags NYSC’s ‘Most Responsive Governor’ award

Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto has been conferred with the NYSC’s ‘Most Responsive Governor’ award.

Speaking at the presentation of the award, the NYSC North-West Director, Kehinde Aremu, said the award was in recognition of the Governor’s response to NYSC’s ideals and programmes.

He added that the NYSC uses 18 criteria upon which Governors are assessed for such prestigious awards.

According to him, “After this year’s careful assessment of Governors, Sokoto State came first, hence the need to confer on the Governor the award.

“We at the NYSC are ready to support Sokoto State Government in the area of manpower development to ensure the much-needed growth and development.

“We will support you in the areas of healthcare services, educational development as well agricultural extension services,” he added.

The Director also commended the Governor for the people-oriented projects being executed across the State and urged him to maintain the gesture.

“You are doing a good job and we commend you for that, Sir, keep the flag flying,” he added.

Responding, Governor Aliyu thanked the NYSC for the award, describing it as a clarion call for him to do more.

He reassured of his administration’s formidable determination to support NYSC to achieve its set objectives

“Youths, being the bedrock of development in every society need to be encouraged, therefore, as a government, we will support them to actualize their dreams.

“We have so far reviewed the monthly allowance of the corps members from N5000 to N10,000 as part of measures to boost their morale,” he said.

Aliyu described the NYSC scheme as a unifying factor that should be supported by all and sundry in the overall development of the nation.

A statement signed by the spokesman to the governor, Abubakar Bawa, said the governor thanked NYSC for the award and promised to continue doing his best to ensure a more robust and prosperous Sokoto.
