Gov Bago launches sales, distribution of farm inputs in Niger

Niger State Governor, Umaru Bago has launched the 2024 farming season’s sales and distribution of fertilizer and other agricultural inputs at 50 per cent subsidized rates in the state.

The Governor, the announcement at the flag off of the 2024 farming season’s sales and distribution of fertilizer and other agricultural inputs at the farm centre, Tunga in Minna.

He reiterated the commitment of his administration in prioritizing agriculture, investing in machinery and technology to boost productivity in line with our ambitious New Niger Agenda.

Bago reiterated his administration’s, commitment to achieving sustainable food security, reducing food costs, and addressing unemployment.

To ensure affordability subsidizing fertiliser prices by 50 per cent, assuring farmers of our support for the 2024 farming season and beyond.

In his remarks, the State Commissioner Ministry for Agriculture, Musa Salihu Bawa Bosso said the state in prioritizing the implementation of the directive of cultivating 10,000 hectares of land in each of the 25 local government areas, the ministry is working with the Niger Food to actualize the dream.

Bawa Bosso noted that the Niger state’s Agricultural and Mechanization Development Authority (NAMDA) is working with Niger Food to address the need of 20,000 smallholder farmers and 10,000 medium holders, having access to 1,000 power tillers and agro Inputs.

He urged the governor to support the resuscitation of the state’s buffer stock programme in comatose for several years so as to purchase in stock for sale at subsidized rates when necessary.
