Gov Fintiri urges MAU Yola graduates to uphold high moral standards

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has urged graduands of Modibbo Adama University, MAU Yola, to be ambassadors of their alma mater by working hard and showing high moral standards in this various engagement as they face the challenges of the moment and of the future.

Finitri gave the charge to the graduates at the 28th convocation ceremony of the university today, Saturday, in Yola.

He said, “The university has done its best as a hatchery, as have the parents of the graduating students who provided needed support to you.”

“We are all here not only to celebrate you for this foot you have achieved today but equally to urge you for an enduringly bright future.”.

Represented by his deputy, Professor Kaletapws Farauta, he congratulated the Vice Chancellor, who will be completing his five-year tenure in a few weeks, for organising three convocations in five years.

“To the VC, I know that this convocation is more than a graduation ceremony, as it is perhaps a moment of reflection on his stewardship and an opportunity to look back and see whether or not he has been able to deliver on his initial vision for the university.”

In his charge to the students, the vice chancellor of MAU, Professor Abdullahi Liman Tukur, acknowledged the achievements made in advancing the mission and vision of the university, which would not have been possible without teamwork.

He also reminded the students that the certificate and knowledge acquired are powerful tools to be used to shape their future for a better society.

In this 28th convocation ceremony, a total of 5,545 candidates were graduated from various departments. The breakdown is 458 diplomas and 4,282 in the bachelor’s degree category, with 53 first class, 1,143 second class upper, 2,376-second class lower, 682 third class, and 28 pass degrees.

In the higher degree category, 41 postgraduate diplomas, 630 master’s, and 134 PhD.s in various disciplines were also awarded certificates.
