Guber poll: PDP united to take back Ondo — Group

A group under the platform of the People Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo, PDP Crusader, has charged the party in the state, to remain determined and focused on winning back the state.

The PDP Crusader also urged stakeholders and members of the party to reflect on prevailing challenges and come up with strategies that will enable PDP to win the forthcoming governorship election and take its dominant place again in the state.

This was contained in a statement issued by the group and signed by its Coordinator, Hon. Mayokun Akinmoladun, who said the free, fair, and credible conduct of the party’s primary election showed the determination to wrestle and oust the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

He said; “With the future we have shared together in Peoples Democratic Party, no matter the challenges we are facing at this moment, we are very sure and confident that the future will be better and that PDP will take back power and connect to do what it did in the past to develop the state.

Congratulating the party’s candidate, Hon. Agboola Ajayi who emerged as the PDP candidate in a free, fair, and transparent primary election, saying this shows the determination of the party to speak with one voice.

Akinmoladun said the PDP primary election cannot be compared to any other governorship primary which was characterised by chaos, where cutlasses, guns, and other dangerous weapons were freely used during the primary.

He said; “The difference is clear. Even the people of Ondo State were able to see the party that was ready to govern the state.

“Now, a popular candidate has emerged through transparent primary election, not the one that emerged through thuggery or other violent means.

“This is evident in the way people have been jubilating since the emergence of Hon. Agboola Ajayi whom people know and respect for being a grassroots politician. The 18 local government areas of the state have been mobilising for the election of the PDP.

“Our group members cut across the 18 local governments of the state and we are ready to work with the state working committee to achieve success for the party in the forthcoming governorship election.

“PDP at the national has also committed to mobilise all members of the party across the country to ensure that the party takes over from APC in Ondo.

Akinmoladun urged all PDP members to remain united and focus on how to take over the reign of government from the present occupant in Alagbaka.

He said; “The people of the state are tired of the APC government and they are ready to vote them out.

He, however, advised the PDP flagbearer, Ajayi to see his emergence as a collective victory for the members of the party, saying no victor no vanquish.

He said; “Seven contestants participated in the exercise and His Excellency, Hon. Agboola Ajayi came first in the primaries. The certificate of returns is given to the winner at the national headquarters of our party in Abuja today 30th of April, 2024.

“This is for him to prepare for the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo.

“All the aspirants that participated in the primaries were happy because the exercises were free, fair, and credible. It was also conducted in a conducive environment and everybody applauded the effectiveness of the state working committee for conducting a peaceful primary election”.
