Gunmen attack Ebonyi community, kill three

Gunmen terrorising Nigeria’s south east region have killed three people in Ebonyi State.
The deceased persons were killed on Saturday when the gunmen numbering about four attacked Akpoha community along the Afikpo/Amasiri road in Afikpo Local Government Area of the State
The victims are identified as as Egwu Nicholas Nwocha, Emmanuel Nwocha, a member of the defunct Ebubeagu security outfit, and Inya Blessing Orieoma, a trader in the area.
Some other persons reportedly sustained varying degrees of injuries during the attack.
An eyewitness account revealed that the gunmen operated with two motorcycles with and AK-47 rifles.
The Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, confirmed the incident.

He said operatives are on the trail of the assailants.
“The bodies of the three persons killed have been deposited at the morgue and the place is calm now, our men are on the trail of the gunmen,” he said
