‘He already declared support for Tinubu in 2027’ – Dino Melaye reveals why he fought Ortom

Melaye expressed surprise that Ortom could feel comfortable sitting in a PDP meeting.
The former senator asserted that the PDP should discipline Ortom.

Dino Melaye, a former Kogi senator has clarified reason for his altercation with Samuel Ortom, the former governor of Benue at the Peoples Democratic Party meeting on Wednesday.
WITHIN NIGERIA had reported that Melaye engaged in an heated argument with the ex-governor of Benue at a crucial meeting of the PDP north-central geopolitical zone in Abuja.
Melaye at the meeting expressed shock that Ortom could feel comfortable sitting in a PDP meeting, walking in majestically after his alleged anti-party activities that made the party lose both the presidential and gubernatorial elections in Benue state.
The two had a verbal encounter when the former senator declared that Ortom should face disciplinary action from the PDP.
Taking to his account on the X platform on Thursday, Melaye said he ‘attacked’ Ortom because the former Governor betrayed the PDP in the 2023 election, has already declared support for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections, hence, should not be in attendance at a PDP meeting.
Melaye on Thrusday wrote on X (formerly twitter) that he attacked Ortom because he betrayed the PDP in the 2023 election and has already declared support for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections, hence, should not be in attendance at a PDP meeting.
“Why will Ortom attend a PDP meeting after declaring support for Tinubu in 2027. Hence, my altercation with him at the PDP North Central Zone leadership meeting,” Melaye wrote.

On Jan 8, Ortom said that the G5 governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would replicate support for President Bola Tinubu’s candidacy in 2027 if he decided to seek re-election
