Immortalise late Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, Natasha urges FG

On Wednesday, the Senator representing Kogi Central at the National Assembly, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, urged the federal government to immortalise the late Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, HRM, Dr Ado Ibrahim, by naming the Federal College of Education Okene after the deceased.

This was contained in a statement issued by her Chief Press Secretary, Arogbonlo Israel, and made available to Tribune online in Lokoja.

Natasha, who sponsored a motion over the death of the late monarch, described the latter as a bridge builder and peacebuilder who, until his death, always dismissed the acrimonious exchanges between warring parties in the overall political contestation of the region.

Her words: “Even when the Supreme Court in August 2015 affirmed his appointment as the Paramount Traditional Ruler of the Ebira people, he chose to remain magnanimous in victory.

“Recall that since he ascended the throne on June 2, 1997, as Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, His Majesty has proved to be a veritable bridge-builder, peacemaker, and social scientist who was more at home with analysis and actions.

“In several private conversations with illustrious sons of Ebira, he always dismissed the acrimonious exchanges between the contending parties in the overall political contestation of Ebira land”.

Meanwhile, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan recently paid a condolence visit to the family of the late monarch in a carnival-like homecoming.

While addressing sympathisers at the Palace of the late Ohinoyi in Okene during the visit, Sen. Akpoti-Uduaghan noted the late Ohinoyi was a greater lover of Ebiraland.
