ISWAP commanders, Bako Gorgore, Abu Ibrahim killed in airstrike in Borno

Top ISWAP Commanders, Bako Gorgore and Abu Ibrahim, have been neutralised by Nigerian Air Force at Tumbum Jaki in Abadam Local Government Area of Borno State in northeast Nigeria.

Abadam is about 300 kilometres from Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, which has been under the control of the Islamic State for West African Province, ISWAP, a loyal submission to ISIS.

DAILY POST gathered that the two top Commanders who assumed office in March 2022 led the Islamic terror group ISWAP less than two months before they met their Waterloo.

A counter insurgency’ expert, Zagazola Malam, who made the revelations on a tweet on Saturday revealed that Bako Gorgore and Abu Ibrahim were killed during a week-long coordinated intelligence-led ground and aerial bombardments by the Air Task Force.

Bako Gorgore took over the leadership of ISWAP in March, 2022 following the killing of its leader, Sani Shuwaram, and other terrorists of the sect after an airstrike around Marte local government areas in the Lake Chad region.

Shuwaram, in particular, was said to have died from gunshot wounds he had sustained when military fighter jets raided ISWAP camp at the Sabon Tumbuns general area of Lake Chad.

NAF Spokesperson, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet could not be reach to confirm the incident, however, a senior military officer told DAILY POST that the revelation is true.

“Yes. Gorgore is dead. Abu Ibrahim is also dead,” he said.
