Kano Court Upholds Ganduje’s Suspension

Kano State High Court upholds suspension of APC national chairman Ganduje, bars him from party representation and activities
Court order follows ex parte motion filed by APC Ganduje ward executive members; party petitions police to investigate suspension perpetrators

The Kano State High Court has upheld Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s suspension as the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and restrained him from representing himself as a member of the party.
Justice Usman Malam Na’abba granted an ex parte order on Tuesday, which also barred Ganduje from engaging in party activities. The order stemmed from an ex parte motion filed by Haladu Gwanjo and Laminu Sani, representing executive members of APC Ganduje ward.
Gwanjo, the party’s ward Legal Adviser, previously announced Ganduje’s suspension. Consequently, the court directed Ganduje to refrain from overseeing the affairs of APC’s National Working Committee (NWC).
The State Working Committee (SWC) of APC in Kano also announced the suspension of ward party leaders responsible for Ganduje’s suspension, citing anti-party activities and exposing their meetings with the ruling opposition.
In response to the suspension, the APC petitioned the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to investigate those behind Ganduje’s purported suspension. The party asserted that the perpetrators were not legitimate APC members but affiliated with the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

The NNPP, however, distanced itself from the crisis within Kano APC, maintaining that the suspension was instigated by individuals linked to senior officials and representatives of NNPP in Kano.
The APC condemned the purported suspension as a criminal act that destabilised Ganduje’s ward chapter. The legitimate Executive Committee of Ganduje Ward denounced the suspension, reaffirming Ganduje’s membership and standing within the party.
