Governor Yusuf initiates the construction of a N15 billion interchange bridge at Kofar Dan’agundi to alleviate traffic congestion
Project manager assures completion within the specified timeframe as the governor directs settlement of outstanding allowances owed to street sweepers

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has initiated the construction of a N15 billion three-layer interchange bridge at Kofar Dan’agundi in the Kano metropolis.
Addressing the gathering at the project site on Sunday, the governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to transforming the city centre into a mega city.
The project, awarded in December 2023 with an eighteen-month completion period, aims to alleviate traffic congestion, alongside another high-impact interchange bridge at Tal’udu roundabout valued at 12 billion naira.
“We have established alternative routes, and motorists must adhere to safety regulations and facilitate the project’s smooth operation,” the governor stated.
Mr. Gee Wang, the project manager of CGC Nigeria Limited, the contractor, assured that the project would be completed within the specified timeframe.
Meanwhile, the governor has directed the prompt settlement of outstanding allowances owed to street sweepers in the state. As reported by his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, this directive came during a meeting with the sweepers’ representatives at the Government House in Kano.

Expressing dissatisfaction with the delay in payment of the approved allowances, Governor Yusuf instructed the Ministry of Environment and the Refuse Management and Sanitation Board (REMASAB) to ensure the clearance of all outstanding payments owed to the sweepers inherited from the previous administration.
The governor dismissed speculations suggesting that the state government intended to dismiss the street sweepers inherited from the previous administration. He emphasized his commitment to ensuring that casual workers have the opportunity to earn a livelihood, stating, “I want to make it unequivocally clear that I have not, and will not, authorize the dismissal of any of you here for any reason.”
