Kebbi first lady introduces fortified rice in school feeding programme

The wife of Kebbi State Governor, Hajia Zainab Nasare Idris, in company of the State Deputy Governor’s Wife, Maryam Abubakar Tafida on Wednesday  introduced fortified rice to school feeding programmes across the state schools.

According to her, “Our children needs the necessary essential minerals that the micro fortified rice contains. There can never be a better time than now for the society to embrace this unique initiative.”

While urging parents and households in the various communities in Kebbi State to ensure they patronise the fortified rice because of its health advantage Nasare call on millkers in the state to produce more fortified rice for the consumption of the masses.

Earlier, the state coordinator of GAIN , Mr. Seun Elere said millers in the state have started producing fortified rice to meet the needs of the society. “And it would be integrated in the school feeding program of the government so that school children and households  can now eat fortified rice and stay healthy.
