Kwankwaso Unveils NNPP Chairmanship Candidates for Kano Local Government Elections

The Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) rescheduled the elections for 26 October

Former Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso has announced the 44 chairmanship candidates of the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP) for the upcoming local government elections in Kano State.
The selection was finalized after a week-long screening exercise at Kwankwaso’s residence on Miller Road, Kano, with party leaders, including Deputy Governor Aminu Abdulsalam and House Speaker Jibrin Falgore, in attendance.
The exercise, which began on 2 September, stirred excitement among party supporters, many of whom backed different candidates on social media. NNPP state chairperson Hashim Dungurawa described the process as transparent and in line with electoral law. He emphasized that Kwankwaso’s decisions were final, with all stakeholders consulted.
The Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) rescheduled the elections for 26 October, following a Supreme Court ruling mandating local government elections as a requirement for accessing federal allocations.
