Make efforts to revamp Nigeria’s economy, Cleric tasks Tinubu

The Bishop of Method Church of Nigeria, Diocese of Akure, Akure Circuit, Ondo state, Rt. Rev. Isaac Bola Osunjuyigbe has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to, as a matter of urgency, make meaningful efforts towards revamping the economy to reduce the sufferings of Nigeria.

Osunjuyigbe who made this appeal to President Tinubu during the 36th Annual Synod of the church in Akure, with the title “Arise and Build” also called on Nigerians to come together to take back Nigeria in order to resolve all the challenges facing the country.

He noted that Nigerians have been in extreme hardship since the past seven months of the Tinubu-led administration, and stressed the need to save the country from impending danger.

According to him, it is no longer news that aNigerians are facing tough economic times, saying recent government decisions like removing fuel subsidies, devaluing the Naira, and now eliminating electricity power subsidies continue to add to the woes of the people of the country.

He said “Since President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu assumed office, Nigeria has witnessed a series of transformative changes, both positive and challenging.

“However, the removal of fuel subsidies, while causing economic strain and inflation worsen the situation the more.

“We call on Mr President to critically look into the situation of this country and find a lasting solution to the problems of insecurity, inflation and hunger in the country.

“As we navigate through these transformative times, let us collectively trust in the resilience of our nation and its people.

“By encouraging one another to embrace change with optimism and acknowledging that God remains in control, we can collectively work towards a brighter future for Nigeria.

The Lay President of the church, Sir Benjamin Folorunsho, in his address also appealed to President Tinubu to embark on people-oriented projects in order to ameliorate the sufferings and the hardship which is currently ravaging and blowing turbulent storm in the life of Nigerian citizens.

He said “Mr. President, there is no doubt that there is hunger in the land. Nigerians now find it difficult to feed even among the working class.

“I want to implore the government of the federation to put capable hands in the economy so as to resuscitate it. It is hoped that with the array of technocrats appointed by the Tinubu administration, the economy will soon recover and life will become more abundant again for Nigerians”

He however commended the Ondo state government over the infrastructural development, particularly in the area of road construction, education and healthcare.

He said, ” Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to the welfare of the civil servants was also appreciated, with a pledge not to owe any worker a dime, a promise that was visibly fulfilled, earning him praise and admiration.”

Speaking on the theme of the Synod, Osunjuyigbe said the task of building a nation lies with leadership and followership and called in President Tinubu and his lieutenants to bring back the lost glory of the nation.

“We are also praying for you, we pray for wisdom from above like that of Solomon for you in Jesus name, Amen.”
