NIA, brokers advocate collaboration for industry expansion

Industry stakeholders have emphasised the need for insurance operators to form new synergy toward increasing the contribution of the industry to the economy.

The charge was given during a visit of the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB), led by its President, Rotimi Edu, to the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) to find new ground to improve insurance products’ penetration.

Edu, while speaking, said that the industry’s craving for cohesion and professionalism could only be achieved if brokers, who are members of the NCRIB, accelerated their alliance with underwriters under the aegis of the NIA.

According to him, the revitalisation of the various joint and technical committees of the industry is being put on the front burner to facilitate the effective sharing of information between the two unique professional bodies.

The immediate past Chairman of the NIA, Ganiu Musa, pledged the readiness of the NIA to cooperate with the broker’s body to re-energise the joint technical committee, noting that no effort should be spared in exchanging information to make the industry vibrant and contribute to the national economy.

Musa noted that the insurance business was a unique one developed to help clients effectively manage their risks, including theft, accidents, robbery, injuries, and man-made and natural disasters, thereby ensuring peace of mind through risk transfer and efficient insurance claims.
