In response to the increased activities expected during the forthcoming Easter period, the Kwara state commandant of the Nigeria Security And Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Commandant Umar J.G.Mohammed, has ordered deployment of 3,300 personnel across various locations in the state.
In a statement by the Command’s public relations officer, Ayoola Michael, the commandant said that the deployment was essential to preempt any potential disruptions of law and order before, during and after the Easter celebrations.
Commandant Umar stated that personnel were drawn from various specialized units within the corps, including the Armed Squad, Anti-Vandal Monitoring Unit, Special Female Squad, Intelligence department, Agro Rangers and the Counter Terrorism Unit, all geared towards ensuring adequate protection of lives and property of law abiding citizens in the state.

Furthermore, he directed Area Commanders, Divisional Officers, and Heads of Tactical Units of the command to deploy officers and men to various locations such as recreational facilities, churches, motor parks and shopping complexes to prevent mischief makers from causing any form of mayhem during and after the Easter celebration.
He charged them to take resolute and decisive action against individuals with criminal intentions who are bent on vandalizing critical national assets and government infrastructure during the festivities.
In addition, he cautioned commanders and operational managers to ensure that their personnel adhere strictly to the established rules of engagement of the corps and prevent any instances of unprofessional behaviour, as they would be held accountable for any shortcomings.
Commandant Umar reassured residents of the state that the celebration would be smooth and trouble-free, stating that effective measures had been implemented to ensure a tranquil and safe celebration.
He urged members of the public to be law-abiding and continue to support the corps in the fight against crimes while assuring them of the command’s commitment to providing security, maintaining law and order, and safeguarding lives and property, among other responsibilities, in the state.
