NYSC, indispensable entity of national integration — Kwara gov

Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara state has described the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) as a vital belt to the unity of Nigeria.

Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2024 Batch B Stream 1 corps members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Yikpata on Tuesday, the governor said, “NYSC plays key roles in our collective drive, integration and building of a strong and egalitarian Nigeria which all can be proud of.”

The governor, who spoke through the Commissioner of Youth Development, Hon. Shehu Ndanusa Usman, charged the scheme to be physically, psychologically and socially ready to face the rigours of nation-building as disciplined and well-trained patriots.

Meanwhile, the State Coordinator of NYSC in Kwara, Mr. Onifade Olaoluwa, has solicited the support of the stakeholders in the state.

“I wish to appeal to our prestigious stakeholders in Kwara state to make their presence felt on camp by embarking on developmental projects that will make the orientation camp more conducive for camp participants”.

The high point of the occasion was the oath of allegiance administered to the corps members by the Chief Judge Kwara State through Hon. Justice Nureni Kuranga.  

The Orientation course which entered day 7 on Tuesday officially commenced on 26th June and is expected to come to a close with the deployment of corps members to different parts of the state for National Service on 16th July, 2024.
