Ohimegye confers traditional titles on Tatu, Bako, 23 others

The Ohimegye Igu of Igu Kingdom, Dr. Saidu Akawu Salihu, turbaned 25 prominent personalities with traditional titles on Friday, including Ambassador Yahaya Shuiabu Tatu, who was conferred with the title of Ogaza Ogbani of Igu Kingdom.

Others conferred with titles are Malam Salihu Bako, the Ogazuma Ogbani, Alhaji Shuiabu Musa, Arongyoga of Igu Kingdom, and Alhaji Usman Halilu, conferred with the title of Asumehe of Igu Kingdom, respectively.

Others include Alhaji Hassan Ibrahim, Ozauto of Igu Kingdom, Honorable Alhassan Momoh, Boruwa, Malam Muhammed Isah and Ramat, Uwhene Ogbani of Igu Kingdom, amongst many others.

Speaking shortly after the turbanning ceremony, the Ohimegye of Koton Karfe, Dr. Sai’du Akawu Salihu, said they were conferred with the titles in recognition of the spectacular roles they have been playing in promoting the ideals of the Igu Kingdom over the years.

According to the Traditional Ruler, the 25 eminent personalities have proven their worth in contributing their quota towards the development of the Kingdom and in their respective fields of human endeavor at the time when such contributions were most needed.

He pointed out that the Igu Kingdom Traditional Council, under his leadership, would continue to give honor to whom it is due, stressing that the conferment of the titles would serve as a source of inspiration to those who might wish to emulate them.

He advised the appointees to continue to offer meaningful advice to the Council and government on issues affecting the well-being of the entire people of the state in particular and the country in general.

The ceremony, which took place at the Ohimegye’s place, was attended by His Royal Highness, the Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir, who observed Juma’a prayer in Koton Karfe.

The Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf, Commissioner for Solid Mineral Resources, Engineer Abubakar Bashir Gegu, Caretaker Chairman of Lokoja LGA, Comr Abdullahi Adamu, traditional rulers, and politicians were among the personalities that graced the occasion.”
