Okuama: Your visit gave me hope in detention, released Delta monarch lauds Senator Nwoko

The released traditional ruler of the Ewu Kingdom, HRM Ovie Clement Ikolo, says the visit of Senator Ned Nwoko, Senator representing the Delta North Senatorial District, to his detention cell gave him hope.

He said this to formally express his appreciation for the role the Senator played in his release.

The traditional ruler visited Senator Nwoko’s residence in Maitama, Abuja in the company of his wife and some family members.

HRM Ikolo expressed his gratitude to Senator Nwoko, stating that Nwoko not only visited the Chief of Defence Staff alongside other Delta Senators to intercede on his behalf but also visited him in his Asokoro cell.

In the words of the traditional ruler, “The day you came to visit me was the day I regained my bearings. Your presence gave me hope.” HRM Ikolo, who, before this encounter, disclosed that he did not have a personal relationship with Senator Nwoko, however, expressed his willingness to visit the lawmaker again for further discussions.

In the same vein, the wife of the traditional ruler thanked the Distinguished Senator, especially for his consistent calls and assurances during the king’s detention.

“You have never failed to return calls whenever you promised to do so. You always keep to the time you set. I highly respect you for that,” she said.

In his response, Senator Ned Nwoko stated that he was humbled to have been instrumental in the process and grateful that the collective efforts yielded positive results.

He encouraged the king not to be discouraged by the ordeal.

“Who knows what could have happened if you weren’t detained? Perhaps it was necessary to prevent something worse.

“Every adverse situation may not always be as dire as it seems,” the Senator remarked.

The lawmaker also expressed appreciation to the military, especially the Chief of Defence Staff for their unwavering cooperation and swift action.
