Ondo lawmaker sinks 26 boreholes for constituents

Succour came the way of residents of communities in Akoko South East/South West federal constituency, as the lawmaker representing the area, Hon. Adegboyega Adefarati, has facilitated 26 boreholes across the wards in the federal constituency.

The project, which cuts across the towns of Akungba, Supare, Oba, Ikun, Oka Akoko, Epinmi, Isua, Ifira, Ipe, and Ipesi, among others, will be executed in all 26 wards within the constituency.

Speaking on the projects, the lawmaker said the projects, which will be delivered by July 2024, were part of his promise to make portable and drinkable water available to the people of the area.

He noted that the topography of the area makes it difficult to access portable water for the people, especially in the dry season and said the intervention becomes necessary to put smiles on the faces of the people.

He said before that water and a healthcare facility were among the most essential needs of the agrarian community and would be given adequate attention in order to make life more meaningful for the people.

“The borehole we are putting in place across communities is part of our promise made during the electioneering campaign and this borehole is one of many projects to be executed in various communities,” he said

Commending the lawmaker, a community leader in Oka Akoko, Chief Salawu, lauded the ingenuity of the lawmaker, pointing out that the projects were an indication of an exemplary gesture by the lawmaker.

According to him, lawmakers representing the area have failed to address the scarcity of water in the area, saying the steps taken by Adefarati show he is part of the people of the communities who also understand their immediate needs.

“We appreciate Hon. Adegboyega Adefarati’s goodwill in addressing crucial community needs and his support in enhancing our living standards. Your leadership serves as an inspiration to us all, and we look forward to continuing the good work.

He described the timely intervention of the water problem in the area and urged the lawmaker to extend his empowerment programme beyond the youth and women in the Akoko community.
