Ondo Rep member, Ojogo, empowers women with N22m

Member of the House of Representatives representing Ilaje/Ese-odo Federal Constituency, Ondo state, Hon Donald Ojogo, on  Wednesday disbursed over N22m to women and youths in his constituency, as part of efforts to empower them.

Ojogo, while disbursing the cash said it is a take-off capital for small-scale businesses, toward alleviating the current economic hardship for the women in the area.

According to the lawmaker, the objective of the gesture is to also make the beneficiaries to be self-reliant, saying that women empowerment remains a key component of his development agenda for the people of his constituency.

He said “there is a saying that behind every successful man there is a woman. It validates the support role naturally imposed on the woman which in no small way helps to propel the wheel of societal development for the benefit of humanity.”

He appreciated the support role of women within the family unit, adding that “one cannot but appreciate the multi-dimensionality of the impact this has on the overall well-being of the family members”

Ojogo noted that a great percentage of the woman’s income is spent on the home, then one is undoubtedly confronted with the realisation of the need to empower more women in view of the implicit positive multiplier effect of such an action.

He pointed out that the empowerment programme would provide succour to the hardworking entrepreneurs with the support and resources they need.

He said “the empowerment is a testament to my dedication to improving the lives of the people I represent.

“For equitable distribution and transparency, 50 slots were given to each political ward in the federal constituency”

Ojogo assured that the full list of beneficiaries will be released once the payment is finalised.

It will be recalled that the lawmaker, distributed N100,000 each to all the law students that were called to bar recently from Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency and also bought JAMB forms to 220 eligible students across the 22 wards in Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency.

Ojogo has equally facilitated various projects that have brought significant improvements to the lives of his constituents.

The lawmaker also assisted his people in the area of healthcare, education and road infrastructure and youth empowerment.
