Police arrest three suspects for robbing female DPO in Lagos 

Three armed robbers who allegedly attacked a female  Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and carted away her mobile phone have been arrested by the police in Lagos.

The victim, Tokunbo Abaniwonda is the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Alausa and he was said to be on a sting operation on the Otedola Bridge.

The image maker in charge of the state police command, Benjamin Hundeyin, while confirming the incident, stated that the DPO was inflicted with matchet injuries.

Hundeyin said, “On 09/042024 at about 23: 00, while on a sting operation to Otedola Bridge, Alausa, Ikeja, a gang of three armed robbers surfaced from their criminal hideout and  suddenly attacked the DPO of Alausa Division with cutlasses and other dangerous weapons and they made away with her Samsung S22 phone.”

 He added, “After the dastardly act, the hoodlums escaped to an unknown destination”. 

The police image maker also stated that the leader of the gang was on  April 13th tracked to their hiding place at a hotel in the Akute, Ajuwon area of Ogun.

The police image maker said; ” Upon the  receipt of the information the anti-crime team of the division then moved swiftly to the hotel where the ring leader one Tochuckwu Nonso 29, alias ‘Thug life’ in the ompany of one Chidera Christopher 25 were arrested and immediately brought down to the station for further”

According to the police image maker, investigation revealed that the suspects forcefully snatched the Samsung S22 phone from the DPO and then macheted her on the back again before escaping.

Preliminary investigations also revealed that the gang leader has been robbing unsuspecting passersby on the Otedola bridge in the last five years.
