Police recover stolen tricycle in Katsina

A tricycle which was stolen in Delta has been recovered in Katsina while the suspects are police in net.

Parading the suspects along with other criminals in Asaba, Delta state, Commissioner of Police Abaniwonda Olufemi said three young men had on January 26, this year chartered a tricycle driver for a drop to Ugolo community in Okpe council area of the state and later stabbed him on his head and back before making away with the tricycle.

According to CP Olufemi, “Acting on a technically generated intelligence, on April 18, 2024, the tricycle was recovered in Katsina and the suspect; 28-year-old Suleiman Umar was arrested.

“Further investigation and interrogation of the suspect led to the arrest of two of his gang members namely; Mohammed Sani and Surajo Yakubu all of Hausa quarters Warri. ”

Meanwhile, one 45-year-old Chiemenam Adigwe, a native of Akpo community in Aguata local government area of Anambra State who was arrested with 100 fake bottles of Gordons, Chelsea, Eagle Schnapps, and McDowell’s was also paraded.

The suspect, according to the police commissioner Abaniwonda, was arrested in the creek town of Bomadi adding that he mixed ethanol with water and added flavor to it to produce the products.

“He then packages these fake drinks in empty bottles of Gordons, Chelsea, and McDowell’s which he usually buys from Onitsha.

“Suspect also stated that when he supplies to his customers, he tells them he usually orders the drinks from Onitsha. The suspect is in custody and the investigation is ongoing,” he said.

On the arrest of three suspected notorious car snatchers and recovery of 12 stolen vehicles, the police boss said:

“On 11/04/24 at about 1632hrs following information received from an informant that his unregistered Toyota Corolla Saloon Car was stolen from where it was parked beside F&T Plaza Oruwhorun and that the said Toyota Corolla car was sighted along Eku/Warri Road by Oha Junction in Okpe LGA.

“On my directive, the DPO Orerokpe swiftly mobilized patrol teams alongside members of Oha local vigilantes, and one Dickson Omage “m” age 47yrs of Post Office Road Effurun Warri was arrested and the car recovered with a master key.

“Further investigation and interrogation of the suspect led to the arrest of two other suspects one Samson Ekwunwa ‘m’ age 40yrs and one Kanebi Michael ‘m’ age 39yrs in Benin city on 19/04/24.

“The two suspects specialize in removing old chassis/engine numbers and replacing them with new ones before putting the vehicles for sale and equally demobilising vehicles with car trackers.

“A total of twelve (12) suspected stolen vehicles have been recovered from Benin City and Warri respectively. Investigation is ongoing.”
