Police rehabilitate, empower repentant ‘Kalare Boys’ in Gombe

Repentant Kalare Boys, formerly known for dreaded violence and political thugs in Gombe State, have been listed for empowerment after they have been rehabilitated to have a new life and be useful to society. 

The empowerment process is to be facilitated by the Gombe State Police Command in collaboration with Thrive Trek Entrepreneurship Centre to reintegrate the repentant Kalare Boys into society as good citizens. 

The programme was launched on Thursday at the State Police Command Headquarters, marking a significant step towards peace-building and youth empowerment scheme in the state.

The Kalare Boys, once known for their involvement in criminal activities have expressed genuine remorse for their past actions and a willingness to turn their lives around. 

Recognizing the importance of providing sustainable alternatives to a life of crime, the State Police Commissioner, alongside key stakeholders, has designed a comprehensive empowerment programme tailored to the specific needs of these young individuals.

The opening ceremony was graced by senior government officials and religious leaders during which the Commissioner of Police emphasized the importance of rehabilitation and reintegration in creating a safer and more prosperous society.

He highlighted the role of education, vocational training and mentorship in equipping the Kalare Boys with the skills and opportunities needed to build productive and fulfilling lives.

The Commissioner expressed gratitude to all partners and stakeholders involved in the development and implementation of the program, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing the root causes of youth involvement in crime.

“As the Empowerment Programme gains momentum, the Gombe State Police Command remains committed to working hand-in-hand with communities to promote dialogue, understanding and sustainable peace.
