Put measures in place to prevent further spread of cholera – Oguntoyinbo tells Nigerian govt

A chieftain of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has advised both the federal and state governments to implement measures to prevent the further spread of cholera in the country.

Oguntoyinbo also cautioned Nigerians to stop unhygienic practices to prevent the spread of the cholera epidemic.

DAILY POST reports that some cases of cholera have been recorded in several states of the federation.

In a statement made available to DAILY POST on Friday, Oguntoyinbo urged citizens to report any suspected cases promptly to nearby government health agencies and hospitals.

“I call on the federal and state governments to implement precautionary and safety measures to suppress the spread of this menace.

“To prevent cholera, citizens are urged to ensure safe drinking water by boiling, chlorinating, or using bottled water and to avoid ice products made from untreated water.

“They must also maintain proper sanitation by using toilets, safely disposing of feces, and avoiding open defecation.”
