Sanwo-Olu reacts as Supreme Court affirms his election

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has reacted to his victory at the Supreme Court.

DAILY POST reported that the Supreme Court on Friday dismissed the appeal brought before it by the Labour Party, LP, and its governorship candidate in the March 18 election, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, seeking disqualification of Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat.

The apex court held that the appeal totally lacked merit.

In a unanimous judgment delivered by Justice Garba Lawal, the Supreme Court held that the allegation the Hamzat renounced Nigerian citizenship cannot be used to disqualify the respondents.

Reacting, Babajide said he is grateful for the Supreme Court’s affirmation.

According to him, it’s an affirmation that revalidates the trust and confidence the people have placed in his vision for a greater Lagos.

“Thank you all for your unwavering support.

“Like I always say, there are no victors and no vanquished. I invite those still on the fence to join our train of progressive governance. We run an inclusive government and do not claim a monopoly of ideas.

“@drobafemihamzat and I are privileged to have been elected to serve at this auspicious moment in the history of our state. Let’s continue working together to build a Lagos that thrives, progresses, and uplifts every resident.

“The journey continues, and our commitment remains steadfast,” he tweeted.
