Sanwo-Olu’s appointment of K1’s daughter sparks mixed reactions

The appointment of Damilola Marshall, daughter of Fuji music star, Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, as the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Lagos State Government on Tourism has stirred a blend of responses.

News of Damilola Marshall’s appointment as the SSA to the government on Tourism surfaced recently, drawing both congratulatory messages from well-wishers and criticism from certain quarters.

While family and friends extended their felicitations to the newly appointed government official, online commenters have expressed skepticism amidst the celebrations.

Social media reactions reflected a spectrum of opinions, with some questioning the perceived nepotism and privilege associated with her appointment, while others defended it as a legitimate career opportunity.

For instance, Ayinke Ololade sarcastically commented, “Naira Marley’s lawyer. Nice one Hmmm,” implying nepotism in the appointment.

Another one remarked, “They keep moving the cake in their circle…, it is well,” suggesting a cycle of favoritism within certain circles.

One Sanusi Sekemi lamented, “This what they called ‘Moving of cake in the same Circle’. It well with us whose has no connection with Human, but believing in God’s connections,” reflecting on the perceived unfair advantage conferred through personal connections.

However, Degold Fabrics countered the criticism, stating, “Congratulations to her everyone shouting father’s privilege, don’t we all pray to enjoy our parents privilege? When your grow no allow your own child enjoy the connection you built while growing… Plus did you even read her portfolio, no be dunce o,” highlighting the importance of recognizing individual merit and qualifications.

Recent statements from the singer’s band members seek to dispel rumors surrounding his marriage, asserting that speculation about his relationship is unfounded and based on misinformation.
