Superintendent of Police Ahmed Wakil, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, announced the arrest of the suspects in a statement released on Tuesday.
According to Wakil, the syndicate, armed with machetes and torchlights, collaborated with five other accomplices, who are currently at large.
He gave the identity of the arrested suspects as “Abdulgaffar Abdullahi, aka Jijiya (20), of Sabon Gida, Yelwa Ahmed Abdulkadir, aka Kurumbo (19) of Unguwan Kusu, Zakaria Saidu, aka Verati (21) of Yelwan Lebura, Umar Abdullahi, aka Yahoo Boy (18) of Yelwan Lebura, Musa Saidu, aka Baba Eru (19) of Sabon Gida, Musa Mohammed, aka the boy (not specified) of Gwallameji.”
The suspects confessed to conspiring with five others, who remain at large. The recovered items from the operation include a 32-inch LG flat-screen TV, one dagger, three torchlights, three machetes, one Itel keypad phone, and a sum of N5,910.
The group reportedly targeted two residences in Unguwan Kashu and Sabon Gida areas of Bauchi, making off with valuable items including a 32-inch LG flat-screen TV, a Samsung Galaxy A51 phone, and an Itel keypad phone.
Wakil stated that one of the arrested suspects, Umar Abdullahi, confessed to the heinous act of raping a 23-year-old student of the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi, during a robbery at the victim’s lodge in Gwallameji, and robbed her Infinix Hot 8 mobile, precisely on December 9, 2023.
“All the suspects further confessed to have been responsible for terrorizing communities around Gwallameji, Rafin Zurfi, Unguwan Kasu, and Millennium quarters in Yelwa area Bauchi.” Wakili said.

Wakil said that the Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Muhammad, has directed that the accused be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, for discreet investigation, after which the suspects would be charged to court upon completion of the investigation for prosecution.
He said, “Members of the public are enjoined to cooperate with the Police as the Command is firm in discharging its statutory duties and ensuring that Bauchi State citizens sleep with their two eyes closed.”
