Sule Lamido University suspends strike

Governing Council of the Sule Lamido University Kafin Hausa, has directed all academic staff of the University to withdraw from the Academic Staff Union of Universities strike and return to work immediately.

This was contained in a statement signed by the registrar of the University and Secretary of the council Adamu Muhammad.

He said the decision was taken during the 30th emergency meeting of the council held at the University.

According to the University, the council directed all Heads of Departments to take note of staff who return to work from Monday 29th August 2022 to 5th September 2022.

DAILY POST reported that Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar said the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, in the state has no justifiable reasons to continue with the ongoing strike.

The Governor urged the union to appreciate the state government’s commitment and call off the strike.

ASUU embarked on strike on February 14, 2022, over the enrollment of lecturers on the federal government’s IPPIS payroll system as well as other demands the government failed to meet.
